Jan brings over 30 years of experience in the medical field to our Coumadin Clinic. She attended Delaware Technical and Community College and graduated with a degree of Applied Science in Medical Laboratory Technology in 1977. After completing an internship in the Laboratory at Milford Memorial Hospital, she began her medical career in 1978. She enjoyed working in all the departments of the laboratory, but excelled in Blood Banking and Microbiology. In 1988, Jan left the hospital setting and instituted a Physician Office Laboratory. This was a challenging position that required maintaining CLIA approved ratings through inspections and proficiency testing. She was responsible for instrumentation, establishing quality control programs and testing 30-40 patients per day.
Jan joined Delaware Heart and Vascular, P.A. in 2008 as the Coumadin Care Coordinator. She monitors over 300 patients taking the anticoagulant medication, Coumadin. Her patients are taking this medication for a variety of problems, including mechanical heart valves, chronic atrial fibrillation, deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolisms.
